About Us - John Imle, Chief Executive Officer

John Imle, trained as a Petroleum Engineer (licensed in California), has over 45 years’ experience in the global oil and gas industry, with particular emphasis on oil, gas and geothermal exploration, development and infrastructure projects. Prior to joining Nations, he practiced as an energy advisor based in London and California. John served as president (2005-2007) of Vanco Energy Company, where he focused on several deepwater exploration projects offshore Africa and Ukraine. Previously, he was president and vice chairman of the international energy company, Unocal Corporation during a 37-year career that took him through a series of technical, managerial and executive positions (mostly outside the USA), including 10 years as a member of the Board of Directors and E&P spokesman to the investor community. For much of his time at Unocal, Mr. Imle was responsible for the company’s worldwide oil, gas and geothermal operations. He led Unocal’s successful efforts in forming the AIOC international oil-company consortium in Azerbaijan was an early proponent of the BTC oil pipeline. He sponsored and oversaw major successful projects in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India, China and Myanmar. John was responsible for the initiative to transport Central Asian oil and natural gas from Turkmenistan to Pakistan and India through Afghanistan. Mr. Imle was a co-founder the Business-Humanitarian Forum, a Geneva-based non-profit that encourages greater cooperation between business and humanitarian groups. He is a member of SPE, AAPG and a former director of the API and NOIA.
