Health, Safety and Environmental
Accomplishments
Nations Petroleum’s goal is to achieve incident-free
operations.
United States:
- Environmental baseline study and windshield surveys have been completed.
Development of HSE policies and procedures for US companies
has been completed.
- Incorporated a Stop Work Authority Program which gives
each employee, company and all contractors the power and also obligates
them to stop any unsafe act or condition that they observe while working
on Nations property.
- Contractor auditing process for all approved contractors.
- Established a Nations California Safety Team.
Canada:
- Nations has prepared investigation, remediation and reclamation plans
for 7 well sites and an adjacent road. These commitments were inherited as legacy obligations assumed when Nations acquired Tartan Energy in 2006
- Nations is working in accordance
with the schedule of implementation approved by the Alberta Environmental
Regional Compliance Manager.
The Accomplishments below reflect the period of time from our initial startup of operations until the change of controls, which occurred on March 5, 2010.
Indonesia:
- A memorandum of understanding is signed with Conservation International
biodiversity work within Nations projects areas.
- Indonesian government approves Environmental Management
Effort and Environmental Monitoring Effort documents developed by Nations.
- Immunization and infectious disease assessments completed
in villages near work sites, by Nations’ contract providers.
- HSE, Emergency Response, Safety and training programs
are approved and implemented.
Brunei:
- Nations Petroleum (SE Asia) Limited initiated environmental and social
baseline study at 350 square km of planned 3D seismic survey in Tutong
District, Brunei Darussalam.
- Implemented an Environmental Management Plan that allows
us to manage and proactively take steps to mitigate negative impact
from seismic operations in Andulau Forest Reserve and within residential
areas of Tutong District.
- Nations initiated educational campaigns at seismic project:
- High blood pressure monitoring and medical treatment recommendations
- Malaria prophylaxis (no medicines, elimination of the root cause – fumigation,
nets, Repellents)
- The World Health Organization recommends that all foreign employees
and family members assigned to work in Brunei are required to have proper
vaccination prior to arrival.
