Nations Petroleum Lost Hills Field Development (.pdf, 1.0mb)
California is one of the USA's most prolific oil states having produced close to 26 billion barrels of oil and 36 trillion cubic feet of natural gas from major oil and gas fields, of which 51 have contained at least 100 million barrels of oil. Bakersfield, the major oil and gas center of the state and Kern County itself enjoys more daily oil production than the State of Oklahoma. Kern County is a very favorable place to own energy assets due to a positive regulatory attitude and the presence of energy infrastructure, services and markets.
The Lost Hills field is located in the San Joaquin Valley Basin of Kern County near Bakersfield, California. The field is about 12 square miles in size. Nations acquired its leases (totaling almost one square mile) in the Lost Hills and Lost Hills Northwest fields in 2006 Lost Hills is currently operating a new 52 pattern steamflood in the Tulare reservoir and a small steamflood pilot in the Etchegoin reservoir. These two thermal projects will be expanded over the next six to seven years with over 800 additional new thermal wells and associated facilities to fully develop the Tulare and Etchegoin reservoirs. Nations also has several deeper Etchegoin zones that contain heavy oil that will also be developed with steam enhanced recovery along with the Tulare and Etchegoin expansion programs. Additionally the Diatomite interval which will be explored and delineated concurrently with the shallower steamflood developments.
Nations is also pursuing oil or gas full field development and or rehabilitation projects in the San Joaquin basin.
